01 The trip

No motorcycle license. No experience bar. Sri Lanka by tuk tuk.

Trade the bike for a tuk tuk — SEAM's first trip that isn't on a motorcycle. Explore Sri Lanka's south coast and hill country: golden beaches, gem mines, misty mountains, single-lane village roads. Open-air, slow paced, completely different rhythm.

Each tuk tuk fits 1–2 people. Ride solo or bring someone. No motorcycle license needed — tuk tuks are manual but easy to pick up, and we'll get everyone comfortable on day one in Negombo before hitting the road. Sri Lankan driving permits handled for you.

Arrival

Negombo — Arrive & Tuk Tuk Orientation

Fly into CMB (Colombo). Quick hop to Negombo, settle in, group dinner. Tuk tuk orientation — pick up your tuk tuk, learn the gears, do a slow loop around town. You'll be comfortable by sunset.

Day 1

Negombo → South Coast

Head south down the coast. Beach stops, fishing villages, fresh coconut. Hit Bentota by evening for the first dose of the Indian Ocean.

Day 2

Bentota → Mirissa

Continue south along the coastal road — palm-lined, light traffic, salt in the air. Arrive in Mirissa, the southernmost stop. Sunset, fishing boats, beach dinner.

Day 3

Mirissa — Free Day on the Coast

Optional whale watching, surfing, or just beach time. Group lunch at a local spot. Easy day before heading inland.

Day 4

Mirissa → Hill Country

Inland into the tea country. Roads tighten, climb into the mist. Stop in tea estates, taste-test, watch the workers pick. Overnight in cool hill country.

Day 5

Hill Country → Suriyakanda

Wind through the hills toward Suriyakanda. Quieter roads, fewer crowds, more local life. Tea plantations give way to forest.

Day 6

Suriyakanda → Ratnapura

Drop into Sri Lanka's gem capital. Visit a gem mine, explore the town, last group dinner.

Day 7

Ratnapura → Negombo/Colombo

Final ride back to the coast. Drop tuk tuks. Goodbyes. Fly out April 11 (or extend in Colombo).

06 Straight answers

The questions that matter.

Is this safe? What's the track record?

This is the easy one. No motorcycle license, on-road the whole way, 60–100 mi (95–160 km) a day at tuk tuk speed — and a full orientation loop in Negombo on day one before anyone touches a main road. The group format is the same one that took 15 bikes through Thailand in 2025 with zero incidents.

How do I know this is legit?

Fair question for a stranger on the internet. The 2025 expedition ran, 2026 sold out, and the rides are documented at @seamadventures. No payment is taken on this site — you register, Varun reaches out within 48 hours, and the deposit is arranged directly. Want to talk to a past rider first? Ask in the form and we'll connect you.

What if I have to cancel?

Deposits are non-refundable once your tuk tuk is confirmed. If something changes, email Varun — the earlier we know, the more options everyone has.

07 From past riders

Rode with us before.

From our 2025 Thailand ride — Sri Lanka 2027 is this route's first group run.

“I've done organized tours before and they feel corporate — this felt like riding with friends. Big difference.”

Kelsey B. Australia · Thailand 2025

“I was skeptical about a group trip — I'm usually a solo rider. But the route planning was legit and the pace was relaxed. Best week I've had on a bike, full stop.”

Manuel H. Mexico · Thailand 2025
