What a rider at a bike meet actually asks before signing up.
ποΈ Who Is This & Is It Legit
Varun β a rider, not a travel agent. He's logged thousands of solo miles across 15+ countries, led a 3-person trip through Colombia's coast, and organized 15 bikes through northern Thailand in November 2025. That trip completed without incident and with a group chat that's still active.
SEAM Adventures is not a company in the commercial sense β it's a cost-sharing arrangement where Varun handles the logistics and coordination so everyone else can just ride.
Two group expeditions run. Zero incidents. That said, motorcycling carries inherent risk β we don't sugarcoat it.
What we do: sane pace, group regrouping at checkpoints, vetted bike rentals from shops used on previous trips, routes that stick near towns with mechanics and medical facilities, and a mandatory travel insurance requirement covering motorcycle riding.
Fair concern. Here's what we've got: a 2025 Thailand trip that actually ran (ask in the registration form and we'll connect you with past riders), a real Instagram at @seamadventures, and a deposit structure that minimizes your upfront exposure β $500 holds your spot, and the balance isn't due until close to departure.
We're not asking you to send a stranger the full cost upfront. The deposit secures group bookings that can't be held otherwise. The full balance due date is deliberately late to give everyone more confidence.
π° What's Included & What It Costs
Included:
- All accommodation (6 nights)
- Your trip's vehicle rental β motorcycle or tuk tuk β for the trip duration
- Trip coordination, route planning, local logistics
- Local guide arrangements
- Third-party vehicle insurance
Not included:
- International flights to/from the trip's start city
- Travel insurance (required β you arrange your own)
- Food and drinks (budget ~$20β40/day)
- Fuel
- Entry fees, activities, souvenirs
- A refundable vehicle damage deposit
$500 deposit β holds your spot on any trip.
Full balance β the trip price minus your $500 deposit. Each trip has its own deposit deadline and balance-due date, listed on that trip's page and registration form.
Before your trip's deposit deadline β we'll refund everything minus a $100 processing fee. After it, deposits are committed to group bookings and can't be returned.
If you cancel after the deadline, we'll try to find someone to fill your spot. If we do, we'll refund the portion we recover. This is why travel insurance that covers trip cancellation is required β it protects you from exactly this situation.
π Riding Level & Requirements
Minimum: at least 1 year of active riding, comfortable riding 4+ hours in a day, and some experience with winding or mountain roads. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be confident β not someone who's putting around a parking lot on weekends.
Traffic abroad is different β cities are busier and more chaotic. Mountain roads require judgment on blind corners. Gravel sections require confidence at low speed.
It depends on the trip:
- Motorcycle trips (Thailand & Peru): a valid motorcycle license from your home country plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) β get one from AAA or your country's equivalent (about 15 minutes, ~$20). Thai police do check.
- Sri Lanka (tuk tuk): no motorcycle license needed. A regular driving license plus an IDP is all you need β we help arrange the local permit.
- Everyone: a passport valid 6+ months beyond the trip dates.
Depends on the trip: a Honda CB500X in Thailand, a Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in Peru, and a tuk tuk in Sri Lanka. All well-maintained, from rental shops we've used and trust.
On the motorcycle trips, other bikes can sometimes be arranged for an additional fee β mention a preference in your registration and we'll see what we can do.
Motorcycles come with a top case for your gear and third-party insurance.
Relaxed. This isn't a race. Typical day: 100β150 miles (160β240 km) over 3β5 hours of riding, with multiple stops for food, photos, and breaks.
We regroup regularly. No one gets left behind. If you need to take a corner more slowly, take it more slowly. The group waits at waypoints.
The goal is for everyone to enjoy the ride, not prove something.
We've got a 24/7 contact line through the rental shop. Most issues (flat tire, minor mechanical) can be fixed roadside or at small shops along the route β mechanics and small repair shops are common along the routes we ride.
In 2025, we had zero mechanical breakdowns on group bikes. But if it happens, the group stays together and we sort it out. That's one of the real advantages of riding with a group instead of alone.
π¨ Logistics & Day-to-Day
It depends on the trip β each trip page and the Per-Trip Specifics section list the start/end city and exact dates.
As a rule, plan to arrive the day before Day 0 (jet lag is real) and depart the day after the final riding day.
We'll send exact meeting point and hotel details to registered riders.
Clean, comfortable guesthouses and small hotels β not luxury resorts, but not backpacker hostels either. Think 3-star: proper beds, hot water, AC, Wi-Fi, and secure parking for your bike or tuk tuk. A few nights are intentionally more adventurous, like the wildflower glamping night on the Thailand loop.
Room setup varies by trip β the 2027 trips are private rooms (Sri Lanka is one room per tuk tuk). Each trip page lists its setup.
Meals are not included β intentionally. It gives everyone freedom to eat what they want, when they want, and at whatever price point suits them. We almost always eat together anyway, but there's no mandatory group meal that eats into your budget.
Local food is exceptional and affordable on every route β a full meal at a local spot often runs just a few dollars, and street food and night markets are everywhere. You're in no danger of going hungry or spending much on food.
You must have travel insurance that specifically covers motorcycle riding (many standard policies exclude it). Make sure it covers:
- Medical expenses (minimum $100k recommended)
- Emergency evacuation
- Motorcycle riding as an activity
- Trip cancellation (protects your deposit)
Providers that work: World Nomads, SafetyWing, img Global. Cost is typically $60β150 for the trip duration. It's not optional.
Riding gear (bring your own):
- Helmet β bring yours for fit and comfort
- Mesh or vented riding jacket (it's hot)
- Gloves
- Riding pants or armored jeans
- Ankle-supporting boots or shoes
Clothing: Lightweight, breathable. Long pants and covered shoulders for temples. Rain jacket. Swimsuit for hot springs and pools.
Essentials: Sunscreen, passport + IDP, phone + charger, basic first aid kit, any medications you need, camera.
Full packing list sent to registered riders before departure.
